#BirukanSky, Campaign for a Better Earth

JAKARTA – Protecting the environment is no longer an option, but an obligation to live sustainably. Journey to Zero also collaborated with the Katingan Mentaya Project in the #BirukanLangit movement.

This collaboration is carried out to strengthen the commitment to educate the public, especially the younger generation, on the importance of reducing carbon emissions and preserving the environment. Moreover, protecting the environment is a shared task for a better future.

“With the mission of inviting the younger generation to move, reducing carbon emissions for blue skies, we continue to invite them to take steps that support environmental sustainability. Namely 0 emissions, 1 sky, and 2 wheels is our mission as well as our strategy #BirukanLangit,” said the Communication Manager Katingan Mentaya Project Syane Luntungan in his statement, Tuesday (4/1).

As a form of contribution to environmental sustainability with a local approach, they also did the first initiation in the city of Yogyakarta. Inviting Agoge Cafe and a number of cyclist and runner communities, they campaigned for the #BirukanLangit by walking through the countryside while conducting education on reducing carbon emissions for environmental and cultural preservation.

They also often hold discussions about carbon emissions and a sustainable environment for a better Earth. So that education about carbon emissions can continue to be conveyed, they also have an installation installed at Agoge Cafe. Its contents, inspire the younger generation to create a healthy lifestyle, protect the environment, reduce carbon emission levels, and make the sky bluer as part of the zero emission journey.

Journey to Zero also completes the #BirukanLangit campaign with an application that can be accessed via smartphone. The application functions as a distance recorder and space for #BluekanLangit activists to connect and be inspired. Because reducing the carbon footprint in the environment requires collective action for this global problem.

Carbon emission itself is one of the causes of climate change in the world and its effects are already starting to be felt and happening. Starting from melting polar ice, rising surface water, warming of the Earth’s surface, some areas experiencing drought, extreme rain, and others.

To solve this problem, the French Agreement in 2015 stipulated to keep the global temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius. One way is to reduce carbon emissions that rise to the atmosphere to 0% in 2050.
