within a Deli, Hidden in a street with no other business around, a taco shop that has become very popular in Bushwick is hidden. And it is that Nene’s Taquería increased its sales considerably after the surprise visit of the NBA star: JJ Redick.
Andrés Galindo, owner of Nene’s Taquería, explains the phenomenon: Likes to the photos he was uploading, I saw that he was in New York and I told him to come and try them. And he said to me: Yes, this Monday I’m going to see. “
A taco that changes your life, this is how the Dallas Mavericks player described the food of this place, within its popular podcast que tiene en Youtube: “Nene’s Taqueria, follow them on instagram, if you happen to be in Brooklyn go and check them out”.
And for Galindo this reference is “Pride that an athlete of that caliber comes here and tells us about our food.”
This business opened in December, but its owner says that after JJ Redick’s visit, he currently sells more than 1,000 tacos a day.
Andrés moistens the handmade tortillas in a marinade sauce and then adds cheese and birria, a traditional meat stew from the Jalisco area of Mexico.
“We make the marinade, we leave it for about four hours to marinate. As the flavor is concentrated, I think that meat is richer,” Galindo describes.
The customers’ taste for birria is such that Andrés already sells even a birria pizza, a creation of the house.
Andrés used to work before the pandemic in Michelin star restaurants in Manhattan, hence his seasoning and experience: “I couldn’t find a job so I decided to open a business. I have been fortunate because I tell him that we opened during the pandemic and we are doing well.”
And now Andrés says that he will try to contact other celebrities through social networks.
