Bird strike could cause the Southwest incident in Havana

The unexpected impact with a flock of birds was the possible cause of the incident last weekend involving a Southwest plane in Havana. The flight had just taken off from José Martí International Airport and was headed to Fort Lauderdale. The pilots had to turn around immediately and land to avoid greater evils.

An official statement from the renowned airline indicated that Southwest flight #3923 that departed from Havana allegedly suffered bird strikes. The collisions were observed in an engine and in the nose of the aircraft just minutes after takeoff.

Southwest added: “The pilots returned safely to Havana, where customers evacuated the aircraft down slides due to observing smoke in the cabin.” Several images confirm the suspicions of the experts about the impact of the plane with birds. Shredded meat can be seen in the photos inside the ship, especially around the engine.

uncontrollable panic

Several travelers who were flying Southwest that day have posted on their social media profiles some videos of perhaps the most tragic moment of their lives. You can clearly see the state of despair of the people and the uncontrollable panic they suffered.

Fortunately only two passengers suffered minor injuries and several felt their blood pressure rise, for obvious reasons. The airline confirmed that as soon as they returned to the mainland, they were all treated and prepared to start a new flight to the intended destination. Everything ended in a scare, a day that no passenger will forget and a situation that they hope will never go through again.

“We commend the prompt and professional actions of our pilots and flight attendants in response to this event. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and have been in contact with them to address their needs and offer support,” Southwest revealed.
