LONDON, KOMPAS.TV The UK’s Health Safety Administration has confirmed a case of bird flu in a person living in a city in South West England. The British government also took precautions to reduce the transmission of the disease.

In a British government press release published Thursday (6/1/2021), the person was infected from very close and regular contact with a large number of infected birds.

They keep the birds in and around their homes for long periods of time.

All individual contacts, including those who visited the premises, have been traced and there is no evidence of spreading the infection to others.

The individual is currently in good health and is self-isolating.

The risk of transmitting bird flu to the general public is very low, as long as humans do not touch sick or dead birds.

Bird flu, also known as Avian flu, is a type of influenza that spreads between birds.

The UK has recently experienced outbreaks and incidents of bird flu in poultry across the country. The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) and the UK’s Chief Veterinary Officer then issued a warning to bird owners.
