Gira is the latest public bike share operator to join Smart Bikeshare, a unique program from Bird that makes e-bikes available on a self-service basis, while offering integrations with local suppliers. The program is designed to complement, not replace, popular public bike share programs. Lisbon thus joins a growing number of European cities, including Oslo, Bordeaux and Florence, as well as Los Angeles, Detroit and Austin in the United States , as many cities are partnering with Bird to promote the use of transport options, respectful of the environment.

This event marked the 11th launch of Bird in the region. As part of its expansion and commitment to Portugal, Bird continues to invest in long-term relationships with partner cities such as Lisbon and Porto, where the company recently introduced a new fleet of Bird Three electric scooters, tip of the sector.
