Bioware Restructuring: Dragon Age Studio Cuts 50 Jobs, but Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Development Continues

Bioware is the latest gaming company to cut back on its workforce. On Wednesday, CEO Gary McKay revealed that the Dragon Age studio is cutting 50 jobs as part of a restructuring.

Bioware is working on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, among other things.

Going forward, Bioware will become a more focused studio, explained McKay in a open letter on the studio’s website. The goal is to have a smaller team that can get started more quickly with creativity, brainstorming and development.

– To achieve this, we have ended up in a position where change is not only necessary, but inevitable. It’s hard to say, but adjusting our approach to development means we have to reorganize our team to match the studio’s new needs.

The employees who have to leave will be offered new opportunities at other EA studios where possible.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf lives on

The big question about what happens to Dreadwolf, Bioware’s next entry in the Dragon Age series, McKay also had an answer to. Briefly explained, the developer will continue the work, and nothing has changed on that front.

– Let me make it clear that our commitment to the game has never wavered. We’re still pushing hard, and we’re all working to make this a game worthy of the Dragon Age name. We are confident that we will have the time we need to ensure that Dreadwolf reaches its full potential.

From earlier we know that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will be launched on April 1, 2024 at the earliest. The game reached the alpha stage late last year, but since then we have heard little about how the work is going.
