A surge in Covid coupled with an early and aggressive syncytial virus season and the onset of flu ahead of year-end meetings forced New York officials to implement a winter plan.

An additional 75 mobile testing units, 50 offering flu and syncytial testing, booster vaccinations available for children 6 months to 4 years of age at 11 public hospitals, and free home antigen testing available at more than 250 centers, are part of the plan to helping the population mitigates its spread in crowded places.

People over the age of 65 who test positive for these viruses will have immediate access to antiviral treatments with drugs such as Paxlovid and Tamiflu. Ángela González, Voice of America, New York.
