WARTAKOTALIVE.COM, JAKARTA – There is a fear in women when doctors ask for a biopsy when breast cancer is suspected.
One of them is the assumption that a biopsy actually occurs breast cancer.
Surgical Oncology dr. Bob Andinata, SpB(K)Onk said that when there was a suspicion that something was going on in the breast, the doctor actually didn’t immediately recommend a biopsy.
The doctor will perform a physical examination, ultrasound (ultrasonography), mammography, and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). From some of these examinations, it turns out that the lump is benign or malignant, the doctor will not do a biopsy.

A biopsy will be done when the examination is carried out, it turns out it tends to be cancerous.
Doctor Bob said, there is an assumption that society makes breast cancer more severe because the biopsy is not wrong.
Biopsy is a procedure of taking tissue samples from the breast to detect the presence of cancer or not. This is done by inserting a needle into the tumor.
When the needle is pulled or released, it automatically ‘opens the wall or wall’ of tissue. When the tissue becomes exposed by the needle, the cancer cells will go everywhere, and accelerate the spread (metastasis).
Of course, doctors will not be silent about this condition. So after a biopsy, the doctor will perform several treatments so that the development of cancer does not spread.
The spread of cancer cells can usually occur after one month after the biopsy. When doctors perform special post-biopsy treatment, the incidence of spread due to biopsy does not occur.
