Police have named one suspect in the case of a baby’s decomposing body at his grandmother’s house in Surabaya, East Java (East Java). The suspect is the mother of the victim Eka Sari Yuni Hartini (25).
“The perpetrator was arrested on Saturday night around 23.00 WIB,” Wonocolo Police Chief Kompol Roycke Hendrik Fransisco, as quoted from detikJatimMonday (27/6/2022).
The suspect was arrested after the police conducted a series of witness examinations and the autopsy results of the baby’s body which was found to have died due to being abused by the suspect. The persecution took place on Tuesday, June 22, 2022 at around 16.00 WIB.
The suspect was charged with Article 80 paragraph 3 of the Republic of Indonesia Law no. 35 of 2014 concerning amendments to Law no. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection or Article 44 paragraph 3 and Paragraph 4 of the Republic of Indonesia Law no. 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
This case was revealed when the grandmother of the ESB victim (46) left the house on Saturday afternoon at around 15.00 WIB. ESB then met up with its neighbors.
ESB decided to tell her that her 5-month-old grandson had died at her home. Knowing this, the neighbors immediately contacted the Wonocolo Police. The police also handled the case.
