Short Biography of Ibn Sina and His Discoveries

Quoting a book History and Thoughts of Islamic Philosophy Figures by Siti Nur Aidah (2021), Ibn Sina was born with the name Abu Ali al Husayn bin Abdullah bin Sina. However, Western countries know him better as Avicenna. Ibn Sina was born in Afsana, on August 22, 980 AD to a distinguished intellectual partner.

Since childhood, Ibn Sina has shown a high intellect. By the time he was 10 years old, he had even memorized the Qur’an. Then, at the age of 16, Ibn Sina studied medicine from Abu Abdullah An-Naqili.

Two years later, Ibn Sina successfully completed his education as a doctor. Then, in 997 AD, he received a call from the leader of the Samanid dynasty (819–999 AD) in Persia. Ibn Sina was asked to treat the amir’s illness and he succeeded.

Ibn Sina, died on the 1st of Ramadan in 428 H. He died at the age of 58 in the city of Hamedan, Iran.
