Biogenesis Bag, the biotechnology company specialized in the development, production and marketing of solutions for animal health, has obtained pre-qualification from EuFMD for its vaccine against foot and mouth disease BIOAFTOGEN, thus being the first company in the world to receive this certification that grants the European initiative that deals with the control of foot and mouth disease on the continent.
The European Commission to Fight Foot and Mouth Disease constantly works together with the countries of that region in the implementation of various policies with the aim of countering the threat of foot and mouth disease and other transboundary diseases and promoting the progressive control of foot and mouth disease through global level, within the framework of the Global Foot-and-Mouth Disease Control Strategy of the FAO and the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH). In 2021, the entity established a vaccine prequalification (PQv) system against transboundary diseases (FAST) that seeks to guarantee the supply of quality vaccines against foot and mouth disease on behalf of the Member States.
The prequalification obtained by Biognesis Bag is further recognition of the history and trajectory of the company that has been dedicated for more than 70 years to the research and development of solutions aimed at the fight against foot and mouth disease, among other diseases. BIOAFTOGEN is recognized as a world-class vaccine that meets the quality standards established by the most demanding health organizations in the world.
The global leadership of Biognesis Bag in the fight against foot and mouth disease would not have been possible without the joint work with the Argentine scientific-technical complex. Biognesis Bago’s collaboration agreement with SENASA as an international reference laboratory in Foot and Mouth Disease for the World Organization for Animal Health has been a pillar for the company’s global evolution.
With this achievement, Biogenesis Bag marks a new milestone and reinforces its commitment to the evolution of animal health.
