From Moscow the authority Roskomnadzor entered Binance in the list of sites that “disseminate prohibited information”, making it inaccessible except by resorting to special precautions. For those who are not aware this is the most important exchange of cryptovalute to the world, a platform on which all the main virtual currencies transit every day.
Binance ends up on the Moscow blacklist
According to what emerged, the decision would have been taken in recent months, more precisely on 2 June 2020, following the disclosure of data concerning some transactions carried out in Bitcoin. Despite enrolling in the blacklist country users are still able to access the portal by relying on one VPN. Below is a translated version of the brief press release distributed by Binance on the matter, which stresses that it did not receive any notice on the measure before 24 September.
We did not receive notifications of any complaints from law enforcement, government services or judges prior to this happening. We have now engaged our legal advisors to determine what to do and to ensure all our Russian users that there are no interruptions in services and that their funds are safe.
Staying on the subject, last month Roskomnadzor also blocked BestChange.ru, a local site that served as an aggregator for crypto news from around 400 international sources.
Binance has recently joined the association Blockchain for Europe. At the beginning of May it was the subject of a theft for an equivalent value of 40 million dollars.
