“What justice is there in leaving 100 people on the street? Is this how workers are respected? These are some of the songs sung in front of the workers’ committee of the Bimbo company, in El Verger, during the massive demonstration called. The staff of the historic factory, formerly Madalenas Ortíz, highlighted in their struggle that the large multinational did not show them “justice, trust, affection or respect”, offering very low financial compensation for the closure or transfers impossible. other factories.
There have been numerous references to the economic interests that led the company to take this radical decision. Below is reproduced in full the manifesto read during the march against the closure of the Bimbo El Verger factory, which reflects the great regret that those affected feel today:
We thank everyone for your help to support us in our fight.
Your support recharges our batteries to continue fighting against this inhumane multinational that wants to eliminate more than 100 jobs and family stability and, moreover, deteriorate the industrial fabric of the region.
Its objective is to increase its already very high profits. The only objective of the closure is to save money: 13 MISERABLE centimes
per kilo of Takis, which is misery for them and for us it destroys our lives.
The uncertainty this situation generates will scar us forever, making it very difficult for us to regain confidence in the jobs and economic stability we thought we had here. Which will make it very difficult for us to take on any new short or long term projects, such as starting a family, taking out a mortgage or undertaking any other goal. AND WHAT IS IT WORTH?
They only offer us good words, but actions do not follow. They have a lot of resources and offer us very little. This year it will be 50 years since this factory opened its doors and, from the first moment, it has had workers who dedicated themselves and made efforts and sacrifices to promote its operation and performance. Today, 50 years later, this is their way of saying thank you.
Finally, we would also like to thank the Town Hall of Verger for its total availability and for having been by our side from the first moment,
especially the mayor.
Once again, we thank you for your support, your affection and your encouragement. This fight is long and we need and will need everyone’s support. Thank you from the bottom of my heart from this big family that all the workers in this factory form.
