She also said that the technical school in Dieveniškės town is considered a reserve place to accommodate migrants, because “the situation can change every day”.
The minister also said that the expectations of the local population had been listened to, but the dialogue was later interrupted.
“We also listened to the expectations expressed by the community – more than once the vice-ministers met, talked with local authorities, discussed with the community, agreed that there will be some negotiations, we will come up with our own proposals, but unfortunately we saw that other groups of people and that dialogue did not take place, “he said A. “I very much hope that awareness and focus will emerge and we will realize that these are very serious things,” she added.
Ministry of Internal Affairs had previously planned to accommodate several hundred migrants by September 1 at the former technical school in Dieveniškės.
The residents of Dieveniškės have repeatedly organized protests and stated that they oppose the accommodation of migrants in the territory of the town, as the place where the migrants are to be accommodated is within a couple of tens of meters from the operating school.
