KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. Insurance companies are continuing to pay claims related to corona. Data from the Indonesian Life Insurance Association (AAJI) stated that the total life insurance claims related to corona (Covid-19) reached IDR 216.02 billion for 1,642 policies at the end of June 2020.

The largest payment of insurance claims in the Jakarta area, namely Rp 146.92 billion. Followed by East Java with Rp 21.11 billion, West Java with Rp 19.23 billion, Banten with Rp 13.16 billion, Central Java with Rp 3.74 billion and others. “There are also Indonesian companies or customers abroad but pay life insurance in Indonesia, such as in Singapore and the United States,” said AAJI Head of Marketing and Communication Wiroyo Karsono.

Wiroyo said that the claim payment would still be carried out even though the government stated that Covid-19 was a pandemic. This means that medical expenses related to Covid-19 are borne by the government. “Covid-19 special claims are due to those who have been exposed and have been paid. Most of them are life and health insurance claims,” ​​Wiroyo said, Friday (25/9).

PT Asuransi Jiwa Generali Indonesia has paid Covid-19 claims of Rp. 10.9 billion until August 31, 2020. Generali Indonesia CEO Edy Tuhirman said the claims had been paid to 120 individual and group customers with details of 114 medical claims and 6 death claims due to Covid-19.
