The flight of billionaire Richard Branson into space was postponed for an hour and a half due to weather conditions.
Virgin Galactic’s first ever touristic spaceplane launch with a full crew on board, including billionaire Richard Branson, has been delayed by an hour and a half due to weather conditions. This is reported in Twitter Virgin Galactic.
The launch will take place from the America Cosmodrome near Trut-or-Consecuenses, New Mexico. The flight is scheduled to start at 16:00 Kiev time.
It is planned that the VMS Eve carrier aircraft will lift the VSS Unity attached to it to an altitude of about 15 kilometers. After this, the spacecraft will detach and begin its independent flight into the suborbital space of the Earth.
If all goes according to plan, VSS Unity will be in flight for approximately 90 minutes. Moreover, the ship will be in the so-called “zero gravity phase” for 4 minutes of them. Then the ship will descend into the lower layers of the atmosphere and land at the America cosmodrome.
It is worth noting that the 70-year-old billionaire will not fly alone. On his maiden flight into space, Branson will be accompanied by: Beth Moses, Chief Astronaut Instructor for Virgin Galactic; Colin Bennett, lead engineer at Virgin Galactic; Sirisha Bundla, the company’s vice president of government relations and research; In addition, Dave McKay and Michael Masucci will be piloting VSS Unity. And the pilots of VMS Eve – Frederick Sterkow and Kelly Latimer will help them to climb to the altitude required for launch.
Virgin Galactic will broadcast the launch on its YouTube channel.
Earlier it was reported that there was named the cost of space flight for tourists on the Blue Origin ship.
