Aker, which is controlled by the billionaire Kjell Inge Røkke, buys 8.24 million shares in Solstad Offshore for close to NOK 400 million. This increases Aker’s shareholding to 32.9 per cent.
The shares were bought at an average price of NOK 48.45, where 7.4 million shares went for NOK 50 and 0.8 million went for NOK 34.84.
It is happening in the middle of an ongoing power struggle over the offshore shipping company.
Earlier in the evening, it became known that the brokerage house Carnegie was in the market to buy up to 10 percent of Solstad Offshore for up to NOK 50 per share “for an unknown buyer”.

Christen Sveaas against Kjell Inge Røkke: That’s why they’re arguing again
Billionaire Christen Sveaas and Kistefos have launched a full attack on Kjell Inge Røkkes Aker about the values in the shipping company. Sveaas and Kistefos’ demand for a lawsuit may end up in court.
Before that time, the shareholders in the offshore shipping company Solstad Offshore are scheduled to vote on the matter at an extraordinary general meeting.
The core of Kistefos’s criticism has been that the agreement which clears up Solstad’s debts grossly discriminates against the shareholders in favor of Aker. However, Aker has rejected this criticism.
Solstad Offshore CEO Lars Peder Solstad has said that the criticism from Kistefos is full of factual errors. Chairman Harald Espedal of Solstad Offshore has said that there is a big contrast between the words used by Kistefos and the reaction in the market.
