Billionaire Glen de Vries, who took part in Jeff Bezos’ space flight last month, died in a plane crash in the state of New Jersey, Reuters reported.
The small plane on which the businessman was flying crashed in Sussex County. There was another person on board the plane – Thomas Fisher, who also died, CBS News reported, citing police, BTA reported.
An investigation has been launched into the incident.
We are devastated to learn of the sudden death of Glen de Vries. He brought so much life and energy to the entire Blue Origin team, the Blue Origin company announced on Twitter.
Last month, 49-year-old Glen de Vries was one of four space tourists aboard the New Shepard. They landed after a ten-minute flight into space.
Glen de Vries was a co-founder of Medidata Solutions, a company specializing in computer programs for tracking clinical trials in the pharmaceutical industry. It was purchased in 2019 by Daso Systems.
