Billionaire Elon Musk’s Twitter Faces Breach of Contract Lawsuit

Microblogging site An American judge ruled this last Friday.

A former X employee, Mark Schobinger, sued the company in June for breach of contract. He claimed that Twitter had promised its staff a bonus for 2022 if they stayed with the company, which was bought by billionaire Elon Musk around that time.

X tried to have the claim rejected, but in vain. The judge ruled that the file and the complaint for breach of contract were justified. “Schobinger filed a claim for breach of contract valid under California law. He claims that Twitter has verbally promised to pay a portion of that premium to each employee,” Judge Vince Chhabria wrote. “By refusing to pay the promised premium to Schobinger, Twitter breached the contract.”

The company can still appeal the verdict. Since Musk’s takeover, the website has encountered several difficulties. For example, Europe is conducting an investigation into disinformation and online hate and there is the exodus of major advertisers. X is worth less than half of the $44 billion Musk paid to acquire the company in October 2022. This is evident from internal documents that were provided to employees and that appeared in technology magazine ‘The Verge’.
