Engie’s annual net recurring profit rose to EUR 5.2 billion, compared to EUR 2.9 billion the previous year. The dividend was therefore significantly increased, by 65 percent to 1.40 euros per share.
But below the line, only a profit of 200 million euros remained. The billion-dollar profit was wiped out by, among other things, the provisions for the extension of the nuclear power plants in Belgium and the losses on the Gazprom Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
Turnover rose by 62.2 percent to 93.9 billion euros last year.
Engie is more cautious for this year: the group now expects a recurring net profit of between 3.4 and 4 billion euros. That is also in line with analysts’ expectations, says Bloomberg news agency.
