The singer came out in a recent interview, apparently without realizing it
In November, during ainterview with the magazine Variety, the famous American singer Billie Eilish said she was attracted to women. It was the first time that the singer declared that she was not heterosexual, and in fact it was a coming out. In the interview Eilish had spoken about it briefly and had not explored the issue further. She spoke about it again during an event organized on December 2nd always from Varietyin which he said:
I didn’t realize people didn’t know.
Eilish also said that she thought it was obvious and that she “didn’t believe” in the concept of coming out – that is, publicly declaring one’s sexual orientation – given that “I’ve been like this for a long time, even if I’ve never talked about it.”
Celebrity coming outs are often carefully planned; Eilish, on the other hand, seems to have done it almost without realizing it: she said that after the publication of the interview she thought «oh, I guess I came out today». In the past there had been speculation about the singer’s sexual orientation, which however she had never confirmed.
In the November interview, Eilish, who is 21, was explaining her difficulties in finding connections with other women, and said she was intimidated by them because she loves them “so much”: “I love them as people. I’m attracted to them as people. I’m seriously attracted to it.”
