In an interview with CNN tells Bill Gates about his own relationship with the financier, who was known for having a number of powerful friends both at home and abroad.
“It was a big mistake to spend time with him, to give him credibility by being there,” Gates said.
The Microsoft founder emphasizes that he only met Epstein to raise money for his and his wife’s charitable foundation.
“I had several dinners with him and hoped that what he said about raising billions in contributions to global health through contacts he had, would yield results,” says Gates.

Gates topped the list of the world’s richest for a long time, but through his and his wife Melinda’s foundation has spent much of their fortune on aid in the form of vaccination support to poor countries.
In May, the couple announced that they would divorce after 27 years of marriage, and this week the divorce was finalized.
