newspaper reportedWall Street JournalThat some of the women applying for jobs in the private office of billionaire Bill Gates have undergone an “extensive vetting process” that included being questioned by a security firm about their past “sexual history and drug use” and other details about their private lives, which may indicate subjected to “extortion”.
The newspaper pointed out that the security company contracting with Gates’ office directed questions to job applicants, about “if they have extramarital affairs, what type of pornography they prefer to watch, or if they have nude pictures of themselves on their phones.”
Female candidates were sometimes asked if they “dance for dollars,” and one female candidate was asked if she had ever contracted a “sexually transmitted disease,” according to the Wall Street Journal.
The checks were carried out in recent years by a security consulting firm called Concentric Advisors, and the interviewers were ultimately trying to find any information that could potentially be used to compromise or blackmail individuals who would work closely with one of the world’s richest men.
Unofficially, Gates staffers are warning job candidates that a “former CIA agent” will investigate their medical information, past drug use, and private relationships, including their former sexual partners, some people told the Wall Street Journal.
For her part, a spokeswoman for Gates confirmed that his private office had not heard of such questions being asked during background checks carried out by the security company.
“This line of questioning would be unacceptable and a violation of Gates’ office’s agreement with the security company,” she said.
On the other hand, the security company said that its protocols comply with applicable laws.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Gates himself also had multiple extramarital affairs and meetings with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The newspaper reported that Epstein apparently tried to blackmail Gates in 2017 over an affair with a Russian athlete.
And in 2019, Gates himself was investigated by members of the Microsoft board of directors, regarding allegations of a previous sexual relationship with an employee of the company.
