Mr Bopp, 2020 was a year like no other. How did the city of Winterthur cope with it?
Generally very good. Despite all the difficulties, the administration was always available, the various services could be provided and the population could be supported. Of course, it’s not nice that we have to write a loss. But we had to reckon with worse in between.

The biggest slump was in corporate taxes. Is this really due to the pandemic and not more to relocations or the corporate tax reform?
We estimate that around 21 of the 28 million shortfalls in income are directly related to Corona. We take that from the feedback and figures that the companies provide us directly. We are in constant direct contact with large companies.
