Bilbao taxis will offer a better service through geolocators
The taxi driver associations and the Bilbao City Council met yesterday to discuss mobility problems, such as the lack of vehicles at specific times.
Alfonso Gil, Councilor for Mobility and Sustainability, indicated after the meeting that work will be carried out to allow half of the 155 taxi drivers who free every day to be mobilized “in case certain areas of the city lack taxis or there are situations punctual where the offer does not cover the demand of the citizens of Bilbao and also of the visitors, so that they can see that this city is in full swing ”.
For this, it will be necessary for the City Council to have all the vehicles geolocated, in order to act in real time and “see what the available fleet is so that there are no deficiencies,” said the mayor, something the council is already working on and taxi associations.
Gil acknowledged that “we must adapt to the new times, in which there is more demand for taxis in Bilbao” and indicated that they expected to implement this reorganization of the sector in the first quarter of 2020.
