Atletico made a dangerous attack before halftime. Geoffrey Kondogbia did kick from outside the penalty box even though Unai Simon could be saved. Then Atletico’s corner towards Joao Felix failed to be anticipated.

GOAL! The deadlock was broken in the 62nd minute. Atletico lead 1-0 over Bilbao after Unai Simon scored an own goal.

Starting from a Thomas Lemar corner kick, Joao Felix headed the ball outside the box six yards into the far post. Unai Simon fell, the ball hitting the post bouncing about the body of the goalkeeper before entering the Bilbao goal.

Almost Atletico increase the score. In the 69th minute, Jose Gimenez fired horizontally from outside the penalty box. The ball penetrated the Bilbao defense and then went wide of goal.

Oblak made another important save. In the 74th minute, Nico Williams’ shot from inside the penalty box was blocked by an Atletico defender. The rebound was hit by Inaki Williams but his shot was still raw in the hands of Oblak.

Bilbao finally scored a goal back. The score is now 1-1 in the 77th minute. The goal was created after Iker Muniain’s corner was headed by Yeray Alvarez. The ball slid into the Atletico goal to make Oblak not have time to react.

Bilbao wasted a golden opportunity three minutes later. Nico Williams had a fine header inside the box, but his finish at the post did not beat Oblak’s save.
