Bilbao, among the big cities that have least respected confinement | Radio Bilbao

Bilbao is one of the great Spanish cities that have least respected confinement, according to a study prepared by the geolocation firm and Big Daa Satya Insights.

The study has analyzed the behavior of the population of the ten largest cities in Spain during the last six weeks, for which the company has used as a method a completely anonymous monitoring campaign for mobile devices.

With these data, in the fourth week of confinement, the most followed in all of Spain, only 43% of Madrid residents and 43% of Malaga residents stayed at home throughout the day, a percentage that was 40% in the case Zaragoza, 38% in Palma de Mallorca, 37% in Seville and 36% in Barcelona.

After Barcelona, Valencia (35%), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (35%), Bilbao (34%) and Murcia (34%) are in that fourth week of confinement.

The analysis made public by the company confirms that in the sixth week of alarm, citizens have relaxed their confinement and in the case of Madrid and Zaragoza only 36% of the population has stayed at home all day, followed by Malaga (35%), and Seville, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca, all three with 32%.

In this sixth week, those who least respected confinement were Bilbao (25%), Murcia (26%), Gran Canaria (30%) and Valencia (31%).

These data, according to the CEO of the geolocation firm, Pablo Reaño, are due to “fatigue generated by seclusion and economic activity in the area, since the percentage of people who stayed at home coincides with the weeks in that the central government decreed the hibernation of the economy, restricting non-essential tasks as much as possible “.

“A first analysis of the data -according to Reaño- would suggest that one of the reasons why the situation in Barcelona has been further aggravated is a follow-up of the lower confinement than in Madrid, for example, which began with levels of contagion much older. “

The CEO of the firm points out that “however, this cannot be the only reason, since there are other cities, such as Seville and Bilbao, that have had a similar or lesser follow-up of confinement and have similar population densities, which have not suffered such a rapid increase in infections. “

There is a great difference between Madrid, Barcelona and the rest of large Spanish cities, which is the percentage of the population that uses public transport.

The data of this company assures that the fall in the use of public transport in Barcelona has been less than in the rest of large Spanish cities, registering a decrease of 81%, much less than the 87% in Madrid, 92% in Seville, 86% of Valencia or 88% of Malaga
