bikers mobilize in Limoges

Saturday May 14, 2022, bikers from the region met at the Stade de Beaublanc, in Limoges for a blood drive. This first edition, on the initiative of the 300 association for blood bikers and the French Blood Establishment, aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of the road for two-wheeler drivers.

For one day, the bikers left their helmets in the locker room. Saturday May 14, 2022, there were a hundred of them at the Stade de Beaublanc, in Limoges, for a blood drive. A first edition, on the initiative of the association of bikers 300 for blood bikers and the French Blood Establishment.

This approach was a resounding success: the 130 scheduled slots were filled. A new proof of the solidarity of bikers.

Although motorized two-wheeler road fatalities fell in 2020 with 577 fatalities, a motorcyclist is still more likely to be killed than a motorist. For bikers, this blood donation is therefore an additional opportunity to raise awareness of the dangers of the road.

In parallel with this blood drive, stands offered various activities related to road safety. Among the first recommendations. “Buy adequate equipment, get advice from specialists and associations, check the condition of your vehicle.“, remember Thierry Clément, FFMC87 treasurer.

The 300 association for blood bikers was born last May. “My son had his accident in 2017, it took him 12 blood bag donations, he suffered severe hemorrhagic shock. The creation of this association is also a way of thanking these people.“, confides Jean-Philippe Deslias, co-president of the association.

In 2017, his son Anthony was riding a motorcycle when a vehicle hit him. He is now amputated with an arm and a leg. For Anthony, his father and Michel Charpentier, his uncle, co-president of the association, prevention is essential. “It is part of a civic act. The accidents are much more serious.”

This young association is already thinking about the projects of tomorrow. New blood drives are already on the program.
