Biķernieki motorsport festival will gather spectators and participants from Northern European countries / Article / LSM.lv

At the weekend, the first motorsport event of the season open to spectators in Latvia will take place on the Biķernieki track, with rallycross races in three championships and 13 test groups. The competition will gather about 140 participants, whose performance can be watched in person by up to a thousand fans, the organizers informed on Wednesday.

The first stage of the Latvian Rallycross Championship will take place on the first day of the competition on Saturday, but the stage of the Northern European Zone (NEZ) Baltic Rallycross Championship and the Lithuanian Rallycross Championship is scheduled for Sunday. The large number of applications will ensure healthy competition and intense fights, as both well-known domestic athletes and masters will start, which makes Latvia’s name sound on the world stage.

On Saturday, the race will take place without spectators, while on Sunday, fans will be able to follow the events in person. However, the organizers remind that entrance tickets must be purchased in advance, because it will not be possible to do so at the competition venue.

Jānis Bergs, the organizer of the rallycross competition, emphasized that the organizers are very satisfied with the participants of the first stage of the season, as it will be possible to see both domestic rallycross riders and athletes from other Northern European countries. “The competition is fierce and the fighting will be fierce,” Bergs said.

Secretary General of the Latvian Automobile Federation Linda Medne is convinced that the competition in Biķernieki will be organized at the highest level, observing all the established requirements due to the epidemiological situation. She reminded that everyone should be responsible, follow the instructions of the organizers at the competition venue.
