The 19-year-old motorcyclist was traveling towards the Melsungen roundabout, on the narrow Jean-Hieaux bridge, shortly after the restaurant La Pataterie, located at the corner of the Place du Champ-de-Foire.
For a reason that the police investigation will have to determine, his vehicle collided with the car in front of him.
Destabilized by the shock, the motorcycle then bit the sidewalk. Ejected from the vehicle, the motorcyclist was seriously injured in the head and lower limbs.

The Samu and Dreux firefighters stabilized the victim for more than an hour. The Samu helicopter transported him in absolute urgency, at 5.40 p.m., towards the Henri-Mondor hospital in Créteil (Val-de-Marne).
The rescue operations, leading to the neutralization of the lanes, disrupted traffic, in particular the school bus service on the Place du Champ-de-Foire.
“A very dangerous bridge” say users
The scene shocked Rotrou high school students who were leaving their establishment at the time of the accident. One of the victim’s acquaintances tried to help him.
“He got his motorcycle license a short time ago. He was perfectly in order.”
