Jaroslav Kulhavý at Everesting on Lysá hora in the Beskydy Mountains.
The duel of the Olympic champion from London 2012 with the current Czech number one Ondřej Cink, who was to represent under five circles in Tokyo this year, was to be the main attraction of Saturday’s program of the national championship. Also because since 2013, these two riders have not let anyone else on the home throne.
But 35-year-old Kulhavý missed the start unexpectedly. On Friday morning, he injured his ribs while falling during training in the Beskydy Mountains. “I poured something into it, I don’t even know how it happened. I was on an X-ray and a son, but fortunately it’s nothing serious, I just have bruises,” Kulhavý told the mtbs.cz server.
Originally, he planned to arrive in the Giant Mountains for the relay race, which took place on Friday. “Then I slept for two hours at night and I was having trouble breathing, I could not give a 100% performance. Perhaps I will be in a heap for the national champion in the marathon,” Kulhavý said.
