As the public order office informed, about 600 motorcyclists are registered for the Sunday between 11 am and 3 pm who want to demonstrate on their route with the motto “Motorcyclists against driving bans”. But there were significantly more!

The demo train starts from the parking lot of the Paunsdorf Center via Schongauer Straße, Permoser Straße, Adenauerallee, Brandenburger Straße, Willy-Brandt-Platz, Tröndlinring, Goerdelerring, Dittrichring, Martin-Luther-Ring, Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz and Roßplatz until it then ends on Augustusplatz.

Similar demos have already been held in many German cities such as Dresden, Stuttgart and Munich in the last few weeks. These were directed against an initiative by the Federal Council to reduce motorcycle noise.

Among other things, the Chamber of States is in favor of allowing motorcycles to be banned more easily on Sundays and public holidays for reasons of noise protection.

According to the Leipzig police, the demonstration remained peaceful until it ended at 3 p.m. despite the enormous number of participants – according to the current state of knowledge, there were no criminally relevant violations.

Since around 16,500 people took part in the demonstration instead of the 600 registered bikers, there were significant traffic disruptions. The LVB traffic in the area of the demo route also came to a standstill.

As the organizer announced with reference to the police, a total of 16,500 participants in the biker demo were on site.

So far, the meeting has passed without any particular incident. The officials managed to guide the large number of motorcycles through the streets of the trade fair city without any problems.

At around 1 p.m., the demo participants gathered at Leipzig’s Augustusplatz. It is estimated that there are around 10,000 bikers on site.

According to current information, there are still many motorcyclists on their way to the center of Leipzig. Augustusplatz is already completely full, and late arrivals may have to switch to Goethestrasse and the inner city ring.

The number of registered 600 bikers has already been significantly exceeded at the meeting point. Several thousand motorcyclists had come to the start at Paunsdorf.

As police spokeswoman Mariele Koeckeritz announced on request, the meeting could take on similar proportions as a week ago in Dresden. Around 5,000 came together there, 1,000 registered.
