BIK Karlskoga vs Västervik: Controversial Match Ends in Czech Forward’s Suspension

BIK Karlskoga was last before Friday’s match with zero points recorded in six games and Västervik was just over in 13th place.

A bottom meeting in its true sense – that is.

BIK won the match 2–0, but it would end up in the dark after a brain drop from one of Västervik’s forwards, Vaclev Karabacek.

The Czech lay down on the ice with a group of Karlskoga players around him. Then he chooses to kick out at one of them, without hitting. It led to a match penalty for the Czech.

“It was clearly a mistake on my part”

Now the decision has come. The disciplinary committee unanimously chooses to give the Czech a three-game suspension for the sacking.

In the verdict, the forward expresses himself about the situation.

“When I was lying on the back, I tried to get up but the opponents pushed me down on the ice again. I felt trapped in that situation and I tried to get up and accidentally kicked the opponent. It was clearly a mistake on my part. I apologize to the guy I kicked, I never meant to hurt him and I really hope he’s okay”says Karabacek according to the verdict.

The disciplinary committee explains the decision.

“The film sequence supports the information in the report. The board finds that it has been investigated that Vaclav Karabacek was guilty of kicking”
