Justin Bijlow will fly to England after Sparta – Feyenoord to complete his transfer to Southampton. Feyenoord will loan the goalkeeper for a season with a mandatory purchase option. If Southampton is relegated, this obligation will expire and Bijlow will return to Feyenoord after this season. Even if Bijlow does not play at least twenty matches for Southampton, the mandatory purchase option will not be activated.
Bijlow was looking for a transfer after Feyenoord coach Brian Priske recently chose Timon Wellenreuther as first goalkeeper. Southampton, promoted to the Premier League this season, then offered a solution. On Sunday afternoon at Het Kasteel, Bijlow will be on the bench for Feyenoord for the last time.
The Rotterdammers have in turn had exploratory talks with Nick Olij. The Sparta goalkeeper is seen as a suitable successor to Bijlow at Feyenoord.
