Bijenkorf wants to cut dozens of jobs at headquarters NOW

At the head office of the Bijenkorf retail chain, 35 of the 450 jobs disappear. The company submitted the plan to the works council, reports Beehive Wednesday.

The layoffs are a result of the drop in sales caused by the corona crisis and the store closings that followed.

Austerity has already been initiated in the stores themselves. The number of hours of employees with a flexible or temporary contract has also been reduced. With this, Bijenkorf wants to prevent forced layoffs.

A total of 190 of the 2,200 jobs will be lost in stores this year. In addition, the 35 jobs to be cut at the head office will be added.

At the same time, Bijenkorf plans to invest extra in its online activities, because turnover is increasing there.
