With the France – England crunch on Saturday in the Six Nations tournament and St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday, the bars in Lyon are preparing to be stormed! They seem to be calmly awaiting these events.
It’s surely the biggest weekend of the year for Lyon pubs! With the Crunch expected on Saturday at 9 p.m. in Lyon, which falls on the same weekend as St. Patrick’s Day, aka “Oktoberfest”, Sunday March 17, it’s better to be prepared!
Hamon, the Irish boss of Wallace in St. Paulin the 5th arrondissement, anticipated well:
“We have French and English people coming from all over France, so we plan to sell between 600 and 800 liters of beer over the two days! No one is off this weekend, the whole team will work and we placed more orders in advance than usual, for food… and especially beer!”
The bars of the Ninkasi chain, in Lyon, are also preparing for this accumulation of events. Staff reinforcements are planned. We stocked up on beer accordingly. Founder Christophe Fargier assures that they are “used to organizing Saint-Patrick’s Day” even if this year, coupled with the France-England Crunch in Lyon, “it risks being sporty”.
This is also the case for Paddy’s Corner at Croix-Rousse. The establishment plans to remove all the chairs and tables from its room to make room.
According to its managers, the entire Place des Tapis, which is located in front of the bar, should be filled with customers.
Exceptional openings
To properly celebrate these events, 26 bars and brasseries were authorized to open exceptionally this Sunday 17th during the afternoon, for this great Irish festival.
And as a reminder: alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health.
Alcohol should be consumed in moderation
