Biggest drop in Boeing deliveries in 43 years

Aircraft deliveries to customers fell nearly 60% in 2020, the largest drop in 43 years, data from US aircraft maker Boeing showed on Tuesday.

The data showed that Boeing did not deliver any 787 Dreamliners last year.

The company delivered 157 aircraft in 2020, of which 39 were delivered in December, which included 27 737 MAX aircraft, according to “Reuters”.

And this month, Boeing agreed to pay more than $ 2.5 billion to settle criminal charges with the US Department of Justice, which accused the company of withholding information about its 737 Max plane that was involved in two crashes that killed 346 people, according to federal prosecutors.

The postponed prosecution agreement closes the Ministry of Justice investigation for approximately two years and drops all charges after 3 years if there are no additional violations. According to CNBC.

On the other hand, the US Department of Transportation said that the number of passengers carried by airlines in the United States decreased by 61% in November compared to the same month in 2019, as the Corona virus pandemic continues to undermine air travel.

The decline is slightly less than a drop of 62% in October.

The 21 largest U.S. airlines carried 28.5 million passengers in November, down from 72.8 million in November 2019.

This was the lowest monthly decline since April, when air travel activity plummeted to 3 million passengers, a drop of 96%.
