Bigger question marks after even poorer effort against Södertälje in training match 2 – VIK start 24-25 on a very low note as Jörgen Hanneborg had a tough time in his debut – VIK FAN CENTRAL

VIK starts this pre-season at a very low level in relation to expected top teams such as DIF and SSK. After a lackluster offensive performance against Djurgården, both defense and offense were lacking as Södertälje crushed VIK 8-2 in the ABB Arena on Friday night.

Södertälje was relatively 2-1 after 1st, after 16-6 (!) in shots and all 8-3 chances in 5-5 to SSK. VIK started blank and chances 0-5 after 8 minutes. Carelessness on slopes also provided opportunities.

But then a bit better when Jakobsson showed up nicely for Kant in 2-on-1, but the bar and shooting were better classes in SSK. Kangas, often pressed for time, were careless in their own field and dangerous.

Rosdahl fixed PP and with real PP units better, ok Rosdahl. Hayhurst was much better today and the clever Canadian slipped through and set up a good position for Gradin.

0-1 after a shot from outside by the strong back shooter Norbe, Hanneborg went down on the high shot, was it caught, maybe control? We need to call video carefully.

Komarek then went out of nowhere and froze everyone and served Rosdahl in the castle and a class finish in the cross, those two become so important.

1-2 at the end of the first hour after Gradin didn’t get a puck out, and a long attack later another long shot went into the net, can’t you understand? Nothing fun for Hanneborg in his debut.

1-3 lead in the 2nd through another long shot. Then a little better when Sjögren and Rosdahl fired chances.

Good build by the promising Wernquist and Norberg where Hayhurst appeared to fill in Gradin especially at the turn of the game to 2-3.

Then came the total collapse in the second period: Folin’s 2-4 wrong decisions, in all. A lot of pressure SSK. 2-5 in PP.

2-6 after a narrow defeat by Flood behind his own box. Then a good exchange of an improved Engstrand maybe with Kant and Jakobsson and chances, and Sjögren shot a free space.

Kvist then did not see Hayhurst free for several seconds, there must be a better eye!

Skillful and quick Hayhurst set up a PP pass, but Rosdahl got a careless PP pass to trip Jakobsson.

Hayhurst broke through again and again, one of the few good ones. Otherwise, Engstrand was strong in the middle zone, and SSK was 2-7 in PP, 3-on-5.

Still only 8-6 chances SSK 5-5, but still no chemistry, now also back. SSK was better in everything.

On third down a carry and 2-8 to end, Hayhurst set a sharp one to PP.

WINTER

SSK won the opportunities by a whopping 19-12 in 5-on-5 and were better in everything, especially in basics like passing and shooting. Sure it’s early, but sometimes you have to ask yourself how likely it is that some people can improve significantly from a low level?

I have probably never seen VIK start a pre-season so badly. Actually. And with the recent sad seasons fresh in the mind, that doesn’t leave calm. However, it might be good with a slap in the face like this right away, from now on no one can go around thinking you’re good.

The Allsvenskan is an unforgiving series, and the more famous VIK have been close to falling out soon. So maybe we need to reduce the demands on this VIK side now, for our health and to be grateful for the next season.

Right now there are a few too big gaps and question marks both at the team and individual level, both based on how he looked in these two games, but also what the blog has gathered from credible sources in the past time

At the team level, it is perhaps not so strange that there is sometimes a breakdown when trying to put together a new game system with only six players left.

This is because it seems that they are now trying to stay much tighter around their own goalkeeper instead of always overloading the center and the two backs in the corners. Of course, it takes time to get that time together in terms of a team, and sometimes it’s very passive.

But on an individual level, both on paper and according to the reality that these two games provided, obviously, some key attackers are missing.

In my little world, only Komarek, Hayhurst (clearly the best in VIK against SSK) and Rosdahl (even if it was unfair in those games) are top 6 for a good HA team. But hopefully also Gradin and someone else who could surprise.

However, Gradin has been very invisible, something that both the correspondents in Tingsryd and Djurgården have noticed. But Gradin has scored two goals in two games, and that’s his job.

Kvist is a good energy guy, but he needs to make a big trip to be a top-6 forward according to a few and a few from what I’ve seen so far as well.

There are high hopes that Zether is, or will be, a top 6 guy, but the 18-year-old needs to improve a lot from these two games to work in such a big spot.

How likely is it within a reasonable time? Are Skåne’s legs already enough in the big role of HA? However, several sources believed that he would handle a major role in HA, so there is still time.

Interestingly, it is even worse that Zether only got one game as a second base, and against SSK he was a great player next to Komarek and Rosdahl, with a weak 1-3 in NP.

A wild early guess is that they will try to hire a second, more proven center in the future, perhaps that should be a priority rather than spending a lot of money on the back end. Or will Kvist be a real hit as a center? But almost in 2nd line huh?

Maybe Zether as a winger wasn’t an emergency solution either (when Sjödin was missing) since you said you wanted to try to have full chains, it would have been easy to move on Zether and Kvist you trained.

A bit strange that VIK chased a lot of top centers, including Tyler Vesel, so they sit there with Oskar Kvist as a second center directly as a climber from Brynäs chain four in HA. A bit hard to combine NJ thinking here. But maybe my demands are too high and the economy may not allow more.

Hammerer and Sjögren sorely missed the sick center Svante Sjögren: Gabriel Kangas is another one who needs to step up.

As for the rear side, I’m not that worried, although I haven’t seen the video after the SSK race. Henrik Malmström came in and posed for some pictures. Nikodemus Wernquist made another good effort.

Then the question is how many pucks Hanneborg had to take, but difficult with those long shots that could be controlled and many SSK players were free around the box. But as a defender in Almtuna said, Hanneborg is a goalkeeper who has both high and low nights.

If we’re going to end on a positive note, it was to see wind speed Hayhurst doing well even though not many around him were working. It is clear that he is the best in VIK, and Komarek worked well. Engstrand again better again.

Is NJ better at scouting in North America than Sweden/Europe simply? Last year the imports were fine, but the Swedes and Finns were worse. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again…
