On Monday, the largest domestic MMA, Oktagon, released the first episode of the new Oktagon Challenge, subtitled “The New Era Begins.” In the article below, we will introduce the format of the reality show and its participants.
As we have seen you recently informed, The Mkt organization Oktagon is expanding into the German market and is trying to reach a huge audience of our western neighbor. Not only will there be a star-studded gala martial arts evening called Oktagon 33 in Frankfurt at the beginning of June, but also the filming of the Oktagon Challenge reality show in Germany.
Reality show format Octagon Challenge
The format of the reality show is a pyramid of eight warriors living together in one villa. In each episode, eight promising talents will try to make it to the grand final. The two best Challenge Cage fighters will face each other at Octagon 33 at the Festhalle in Frankfurt, which will then take place on June 4.
In order to be well prepared for the biggest moment of their career, they will receive tips and tricks from the biggest stars of the German fighting scene. One team will be led by Octagon fans known to fighters Christian Eckerlin and Stephan Puetz. A team led by brothers David and Martin Zawad will oppose them.
Wrestlers have to face seven challenges
The teams will face each other in seven challenges within different tasks.
# 1 Challenge: In exciting and fun tasks that are beyond the daily lives of caged fighters, teams play for two major benefits. The winning team has the right to assemble individual pairs of wrestlers within a combat week. On the other hand, the losing team must clean the house.
# 2 Exercise: The coaches prepare their charges as best they can for the fight. They give valuable advice and can also learn something from their wild charges.
# 3 Training and crashing: As in real life, warriors must do their weight. Otherwise, the big dream will break. Here comes the inevitably great drama!
#4 Boj: What would a fight show be without a fight? There is a match on the last day of each episode. Whoever wins is in the semifinals. The loser is eliminated, but he can still get important training advice!
Introduction of individual teams
1. Team Puetz / Eckerlin:
Antonio Bila: A 24-year-old fighter training for two years at MMA Spirit, the home of the Puetz and Eckerlin martial arts. As a teenager, he was addicted to drugs and, thanks to MMA, brought back honesty and order.
Selim Topuz: At 34, he is the oldest wrestler of this Challenge. Topuz trained several times with a possible opponent of Jiří Procházka in the UFC, Alexander Rakic.
Ali Nasir: The tall 25-year-old fighter has been training in the spirit of MMA for years. Outside the cage he studies philosophy, a very special combination!
Ibrahim Cholo: He trained with our conqueror Patrik Kincl in KSW Robert Soldic at UFD Gym in Düsseldorf. His agile movements are a real threat to any opponent.
2. The Zawad brothers’ team:
Simeon Kapuya: The 23-year-old is fighting for the Prang Sports Academy in Cologne. In his only professional match so far, he celebrated a strong knockout at the “We Love MMA 40” event.
Hassan Shaaban: “Hassan Diaz”, his nickname after the Diaz brothers from the UFC, began the sport at the age of 16. It now belongs to the famous UFD Gym in Düsseldorf. No wonder the 20-year-old is one of Challenge’s biggest favorites.
Endrit Brajshori: The Brajshori, originally from Rosenheim in Bavaria, always had to cover many kilometers in order to fight in a cage at all. The 25-year-old wants to prove that you can be successful in sports, even if you don’t come from a big city.
James Lamb: The 30-year-old German Puerto Rican owns his own gym in Bremen. He paves the way for his own preparation for the fight. He wants to win the Octagon Challenge for his little daughter.
