Big surprise! Matěj Vydra is officially a Viktoria Plzeň player, Květ will also strengthen here

Few expected it. Pilsen Viktoria will prepare for the spring season, in which they will fight for the title. The new reinforcement is Matěj Vydra, which has been speculated to be related to Aris Soluň. Roman Květ also joins the club.

Viktoria Plzeň finished the autumn part of the 2022/23 season at the top of the Fortuna League with 39 points! They are now two points clear of Slavia, so they need to strengthen.

At the Christmas appointment with the fans, the club surprisingly presented new reinforcements, who certainly arrive with the aim of entering the starting lineup.

The most sensational reinforcement is Matěj Vydra. He was a Burnley player in England until the summer but did not renew his contract with them and has been out of work since the summer due to an injury.

He is now making a surprise return to the Czech league, as it was thought he would go to Greece, more precisely to Aris Thessaloniki. Even in the fall it looked like Sparta Prague.

But in the end he is a Viktoria player, which few fans would have guessed. “When there was an opportunity to get such a quality reinforcement for the offensive, we reacted immediately and are very happy to welcome Matěj to our team.

We want to be well prepared for the spring part of the season and we believe it will suit us perfectly and be a reinforcement.” Daniel Kolář, sporting director of Viktoria, told the club’s website.

“Viktorka’s reports were quick and accurate, I’ll have all the necessary conditions here. I’ve inspected the club’s facilities and they’re great for training and recovery. I’m glad we agreed and now it’s my turn to be able to assert myself and being an asset, I have a lot of motivation” Otter explained.

Viktoria also announced Bohemians’ Roman Květ during the show. His arrival is covered by Vydra, but Květ was one of the biggest discoveries of the autumn and the possible interest of the Prague teams was also discussed. Goalkeeper Martin Jedlička is going the other way on loan.

“Roman Květ is in an ideal footballing age and impressed us with his performances, when he was one of the leading figures in his team in the autumn. Plus he had great numbers, in the end he was able to assert himself. We believe he will be a reinforcement also for our staff and will build on the strong performance from the autumn.” Kolář added.

“I’m very happy that such an offer came, there wasn’t much to think about. Viktorka are a big club with top facilities, the current league champions and once again have the highest ambitions.” Květ said after signing the contract.
