A snowball that obscured the view covered the entire North Chungcheong Province.

Strong winds and heavy snow concentrated from late afternoon to midnight yesterday.

On the highway, cars drive slowly through thick snow with their hazard lights on.

The streets of the city have turned into white fields of snow.

“I can’t even walk, it’s too slippery. I have to go out early in the morning, so I’ll melt the snow for a while…”

So far, the snowfall amount per region has recorded a high of 15.5cm with more than 2cm of snowfall per hour in Suanbo, Chungju, where a heavy snowfall warning was once issued, and Jecheon Deoksan 14.8 , Jincheon Satellite Center 14.3 and Cheongju 5.6cm.

There have also been traffic accidents in the snow.

At around 9:30 last night, a taxi and an SUV collided near Jibuk Intersection in Cheongju, and six people, including passengers, were injured and taken to hospital.

A 45-passenger commuter bus that skidded on the snowy road crashed into a guardrail and saved 19 passengers who could not escape.

So far, 11 people have been injured in 17 snowy road accidents reported to firefighters and transferred to hospital.

The warning for heavy snow has been lifted, but the warning remains for cold spells issued in Chungcheongbuk-do since 9:00 last night.

In particular, cold snap warnings are being issued in Jecheon, Goesan and Boeun, and the minimum temperature in the morning is expected to drop to around -15 degrees Celsius, superimposed on strong winds everywhere.

The snow that has stopped starts again during the day, and the snow that has fallen is frozen as it is, so there are concerns about traffic congestion on the way to work.

Chungcheongbuk-do and each local government are currently handling the second phase of emergency work and placing about 360 equipment and about 650 people, continuing a round-the-clock response system.
