Two days in a row Singapore reported daily cases of COVID-19 above a thousand. As of Tuesday (9/21/2021) there were 1,173 new cases of Corona, 1,038 of which were community transmission, and 135 cases were from dormitory residents.
There are three reported cases of COVID-19 deaths, all three are elderly over 60 years, the number of people who died from Corona in Singapore to 65 people. In addition, Singapore recorded 5 new imported cases of Corona, bringing the total new cases to 1,178.
Cases of severe illness
Cases of severe or serious infections requiring hospitalization are also on the rise. In 4 days increased by about 200 cases, from the original 813 cases COVID-19 hospitalization, now the number of patients being treated is more than a thousand people.
“There are 1,109 patients who are being treated at the hospital, most of them are in good health and under surveillance,” said the local Ministry of Health, quoted from Channel News Asia.
The number of patients requiring oxygen supplementation has increased from the previous addition of 90 people, now there are 147 cases. Of the 147 cases, 17 of them are critically treated in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Among those who fell seriously ill were 135 seniors over the age of 60.
The dominance of new COVID-19 cases with mild symptoms
Even so, over the past 28 days, 97.9 percent of local cases were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms. A total of 246 cases required oxygen supplementation and 23 were in the ICU. Of these, 54.3 percent were fully vaccinated and 45.7 percent were partially or unvaccinated.
Large clusters, including from school
Many large clusters are reported in Singapore. One of them took place at the LearnJoy education center, a total of nine clusters there being monitored by the Singapore Ministry of Health. The cluster has a total of 10 cases, consisting of one staff member and nine students.
The cluster at My Little Campus in Yishun has increased after 5 new cases were discovered. There were a total of 24 infections in the cluster consisting of two staff members, 20 students and two household members of the case.
