Canadian hockey striker David Levin will not strengthen the extra-league club HK Spišská Nová Ves after all.
After returning to the training process, he recovered from the injury for which he had to undergo surgery and agreed with the club’s management to end the cooperation.
The people on social networks also informed about the departure of the defender Matúš Chovan to Humenné, who is performing in the Slovak Hockey League.
Levin, a Canadian striker of Israeli origin, headed to the Bratislava Capitals club in Spišská Nová Ves. He scored 6 points (1 + 5) in 6 matches of the IHL international competition, but the club decided not to continue the season after the deaths of forward Boris Sádecký and vice president Dušan Pašek.
“Unfortunately, David and I had to say goodbye, because after returning to the training process, he recovered the original injury, which already requires surgery. It is a great pity, because the convalescence went well and there was no indication that anything like this could happen. Personally, I’m very sorry, because David would certainly be a significant reinforcement. In the future, I wish him good luck in his future career and especially good health, “ said general manager Richard Rapáč, adding that the club is working on a replacement for the 22-year-old winger.
In the 2020/2021 season, defender Matúš Chovan had a significant share in Spišiakov’s promotion to the highest competition. In the extra-league year 2021/2022, he played 7 matches, in which he scored 1 goal, 1 assist, 4 penalty minutes and 1 minus point.
“I thank him for what he did for Novove hockey in recent seasons. He played a big part in the team’s promotion to the extra league when he was one of its main leaders. “After several talks, we decided that the best choice for both parties would be to release him to Humenné by the end of the season,” Rapáč remarked.
