Big news for drivers. They change the law, new rules – 2024-04-14 08:03:50

A project published on the website of the National Assembly envisages serious changes to the Road Traffic Act. If they are accepted, the speed on the highways in our country will be reduced by 10 km/h and the maximum will now be 130 km/h. Separately, the TOL-cameras will detect average speed and will be used by the Ministry of the Interior.

Nova TV broadcast the opinion of Mariyan Vassilev, an expert in auto-moto training, who was an instructor and now deals with international transport. He travels thousands of kilometers a month both by car and heavy-duty trucks. To reduce the speed on the native highways for Mariyan Vassilev is pointless.

“10 km is not such a factor. Every year statistics are published that the death rate and the accidents themselves are increasing. Yes, but has anyone taken into account how much the traffic has increased, not let’s do calculations, how many accidents there are”, asks Mariyan Vasilev .

B the reasons for the law, it is noted that the increased and unguarded traffic is the reason for the increased mortality on the road. According to the auto expert, it is the first-class roads, not the highways, that are problematic. Reducing the speed on the highways will also create an administrative burden for the state, not a relief for drivers, according to Vassilev.

“Changing road signs, changing the traffic law…a commitment that for me is unnecessary,” he points out.

However, the expert in auto-moto training agrees that the TOL-cameras should detect the average speed and be used by the “Traffic Police” to impose fines when it is exceeded.

And as for another sore problem – illegal road racing and demonstrative driving and taking photos of mileage counters at speeds of up to 300 km/h, according to Mariyan Vassilev, a non-standard approach by the state to these drivers is needed. The draft amendments to the Road Traffic Act must first go through a number of discussions and several votes in the plenary before being promulgated.
