Big jump in COVID cases in Bulgaria, many deceased – Topics in development

NS Over the past 24 hours, 1,301 new cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Bulgaria. This is the largest number of new coronavirus infections since May 5. The new cases are 1,029 more than the previous day. This is shown by the data on the Unified Information Portal.

A total of 29,690 assays were performed, of which 6,212 were PCR and 23,478 were antigenic. Of these, 7.3% and 3.6% were positive for coronavirus, respectively.

There are 246 registered cures from COVID-19 for the past 24 hours. The number of active cases of the infection in Bulgaria has increased to 15,757 and is the highest since June 3.

The Delta strain of COVID-19 already dominates in Bulgaria

The number of hospitalized patients with moderate to severe coronavirus infection increased to 1,658. 145 of them were in intensive care units.

For the past 24 hours in Sofia and the region 291 new cases of coronavirus infection have been registered.

There is a large increase in deaths of patients with COVID-19 in hospitals across the country. They are 32 or at most since July 5. Thus, the total number of deaths since the beginning of the epidemic in Bulgaria reached 18,376.

There were 9,143 vaccinated during the past 24 hours. 77 of them received the AstraZeneca vaccine, 6,060 – Komirnati, 723 – Moderna and 2,283 – Jansen. Thus, the total number of vaccinated with a completed vaccination cycle in Bulgaria reached 1,079,266. The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the epidemic in the country is 434,535.
