Big illegal site Newzbin stops

The most famous indexing site for illegal files on Usenet has been shut down, the anonymous administrators themselves have announced. The reason is that more and more illegal uploaders are giving up because of the enforcement activities of the BREIN Foundation.

Newzbin profiled himself as the successor to FTD, which had to stop in 2011 by the judge.

‘It has been a very difficult decision for us, but with the current status of Usenet and the offer, we are forced to stop. We notice that things are getting quieter and more and more uploaders are choosing eggs for their money with the increasing risks of getting caught,” says Newzbin.org

The Usenet predates the Internet and was originally intended for exchanging text messages via newsgroups. The Usenet still exists, but is nowadays used almost exclusively for the exchange of illegal entertainment content such as movies, music, games, books, magazines and photos .
