Big fire in apartment in New West

In an apartment at the Marius Bauerplantsoen in Nieuw-West a big fire raged this afternoon that could be seen in the wider area. The fire brigade advises local residents to keep windows and doors closed.

Images show how large black clouds of smoke come from the fifth and sixth floors of the flat. There is a lot of fire brigade on site to extinguish the fire. The fire brigade speaks of a ‘major fire.’ How it originated is not yet clear.

The fire brigade announced that the fire had been extinguished around 5 p.m. The stairwell was badly damaged by the fire. Four people were checked by ambulance personnel in connection with smoke inhalation.
