The wind in the region complicates efforts to extinguish it
A huge forest fire is burning near the Turkish resort of Marmaris, Turkish media reported. The fire is raging near the tourist part of the Ichmeler district in the coastal zone.

An employee of the forestry in Mugla County died. The cause of the fire, which quickly spread to a relatively large area, is not yet known. The flames are raging near a populated area and a famous beach. The area affected by the fire is located very close to a number of large hotels.

Photos from the beach show foreign and local tourists watching the disaster with concern.
Many fire engines, 6 firefighting helicopters (helicopters were sent from neighboring Izmir and Denizli counties) and other ground and land firefighting equipment are trying to put out the flames.
Efforts to extinguish the flames have so far been hampered by strong winds, Mugla Governor Orhan Tavla said.
