Airpower 2024 came to an end today with an accident-free air show and an extensive supporting program. While the partly rainy weather on Friday meant that the crowds were slightly lower than expected, the capacity limits were reached on the much sunnier Saturday. As a result, organizers and police actively called on people not to travel as early as midday. On Saturday alone, the daily maximum of 150,000 visitors was reached.
I am very positive that the new traffic concept worked so well with such large crowds and a limited road network. I would like to thank everyone involved who has prepared so well for this situation over the past year and a half.
shows District Administrator Nina Poelzl more than satisfied at the end of the event. Police operations manager Captain Andreas Tafeit is satisfied:
Apart from a few traffic accidents, there were no security-related incidents and hardly any police operations. Nevertheless, we were well prepared for various scenarios.
Unfortunately, a nine-year-old cyclist was hit by a bus on his way to Airpower24 yesterday and was seriously injured.
We arrived early with our camera on both days, so our journey there was relatively quick. The departure from Zeltweg also worked (for us), and we left the site at around 3 p.m. on Saturday. Overall, we had the impression that the new transport concept helped.
