Big concert in Central Park and one more in each county

The city’s NYCHomecomingWeek celebration will feature five concerts, one in each county, beginning Monday, Aug. 16, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced.

“It’s New York City. We don’t settle for just one concert in one county,” de Blasio said. “Surely that is not enough.”

The mayor then announced that there would be four additional concerts, one in each of the other boroughs, in the days leading up to the big show in Manhattan.

“Five iconic and extraordinary concerts,” added a Blasio enthusiast. “I’m issuing a FOMO alert (fear of missing it),” he added with a smile.

While legendary music producer and executive Clive Davis will produce the Central Park show, the Universal Museum of Hip Hop is in charge of commissioning the rest of the concerts.

The mayor said the city can host events like Homecoming Week because 70% of NYC adults have received at least one vaccine.

Still, “we have more to do with younger New Yorkers,” the mayor added.

These are the dates and venues of the Homecoming Week concerts:

-Monday, August 16 – Orchard Beach in The Bronx

-Martes 17 de agosto – Richmond County Bank Park and Staten Island

-Thursday, August 19 – Brooklyn Army Terminal in Brooklyn

-Friday August 20 – Forest Hills Stadium in Queens

-Saturday, August 21: Great Lawn in Central Park, Manhattan

New York Homecoming Week has been officially designated August 14-22.

Participants in each of the concerts leading up to the final concert in Central Park have yet to be announced.
